Grandpa's Project

One of the things I was hoping to accomplish on this trip was to help Dad get a new fishing boat that would be safe and comfortable for him to fish with in the years to come.  Well, I got my chance when we found a nice older aluminum boat that needed a little work but was priced just right for his budget.  Anyway, after purchasing the boat we got right to work overhaulin the old classic and turning it into a top notch fishin machine.  Here is a photo album of our 8 day overhaul.

Here is the boat in all it's old glory, not too bad just looks old and faded.

First we installed a new floor with treated stringers and 3/4 inch plywood decking

The completed floor was then sealed and prepared for paint

6 coats of Urathane Enamel were applied to the deck to keep the water out.

Then we sanded the outside and applied several coats of offwhite to the hull to give it a fresh look.

Now it is time to give this old boat a hot new look with a stunning blue two tone second color

Oooweee, look at this baby shine.  I still got it!

Paints all dry and time to get back to the interior

Since the outside looks soo good we added a multi color paint effect to the interior and gunnels.  Can you see how happy Grandpa is.  He's happy because the sanding is over, and we just got back from burger king.  Dont tell Kelly.... Shhhhh.

Now that the interior is done, its time to mount the motor and seats and stuff like that.

Three new seats, fish finder and rod holders add the finishing touches to a pretty sweet project.

Is that nice or what?

Now it's off to the river for a shake down cruise and lunch with Kelly and Dad

Hey look, it floats!!!!  and it sure looks great with that beautiful lady in the cockpit.  Hey I bet she can catch a fish as well as the best of them.  Now Dad has a boat that will bring him and Mom lots of joy for the years to come.
